About Lindsey

As a couple and family therapist, I have experience working with a wide range of ages and helping  individuals, families, and couples. I believe that therapy can help you to become your best self. Whatever your goal is–from finding more positive ways for your family to interact to overcoming depression and anxiety, I will use personalized and collaborative process to help bring healing and propel your life and relationships to a better place.

I specialize in helping youth, families, and couples who are facing the many transitions that arise throughout life. In my work with children, I emphasize a family approach to therapy, drawing primarily from the Theraplay approach to child therapy. I believe that therapy can by a joyful process which brings us greater connection and peace.

I believe in empowering families to find the right solutions for them–not only within their family but with other resources like schools. Adolescence often brings its own challenges which I am skilled in helping families navigate. In my work with teens, I draw on their strengths while examining patterns, both individually and interpersonally, that may cause them to feel stuck.

Having lived abroad multiple times, I enjoy working with families facing the changes that come with moving to a new culture. I am able to work with Spanish speaking families.

My other focus area is young adults facing personal and professional challenges. If you are feeling stuck, unsettled, or down, I am here to provide space for you to work through challenges in a supportive, judgement free environment. For couples preparing for, or in the early stages of, long term commitment, I am trained in the PREPARE/ENRICH program (www.prepare-enrich.com). It helps couples visualize your relationship, put facts behind your feelings, and discover ways to open up doors for communication and intimacy.

Originally from North Carolina, I speak Spanish and German and have lived in D.C. for nine years. One of my favorite things to do is explore the city by bike. I am a proud Richmond Spider and have a B.A. in Global Politics and Diplomacy.

Some of my additional certifications include teaching yoga and mindfulness to youth (Little Flower Yoga), Theraplay (Level 1), and Gottman couples therapy (Level 1).
